CITY™ Non-Profit

Media education, youth mentorship, and civic programming.

CITY™ Non-Profit delivers hands-on video training for youth and adults through real projects that build storytelling, production, and teamwork skills. We work with schools, libraries, and community organizations to turn learning into public-facing work that serves the community.

What we do

CITY™ Non-Profit teaches camera, sound, lighting, editing, interviewing, and story structure through guided, project-based learning. The goal is not just technical exposure. The goal is for participants to create something real: a short video, interview, event piece, reel, or community showcase that reflects the people and places around them.

Youth mentorship

Creative skill-building with structure, teamwork, and confidence on set and in the edit.

Workforce exposure

Participants learn the actual roles, tools, and workflow behind media production.

Civic storytelling

Programs can document neighborhoods, partners, events, and local voices through media.

Signature program: 6-week video training

A hands-on cohort experience for youth and adults.

  1. Weeks 1–2 — Story basics, camera operation, composition, and audio

Participants learn the foundations of visual storytelling while getting comfortable with equipment and core shot choices.

  2. Week 3 — Lighting and interview techniques

We introduce practical lighting setups, question design, and on-camera interviewing for clear, engaging stories.

  3. Week 4 — Field production and teamwork

The group moves into real-world production planning, crew roles, communication, and collaborative execution.

  4. Week 5 — Editing and motion basics

Participants shape footage into finished pieces with pacing, sound, titles, and basic motion elements.

  5. Week 6 — Final project screening and community feedback

The cohort presents work publicly or semi-publicly and reflects on process, outcomes, and next steps.

Who we work with

We collaborate with libraries, schools, park programs, community centers, and nonprofit organizations that want meaningful media education tied to real community engagement.

Libraries

Neighborhood storytelling cohorts, workshops, and public-facing screenings.

Schools

After-school, in-school, or enrichment formats centered on production and collaboration.

Community organizations

Program documentation, participant training, and storytelling projects rooted in local impact.

CITY Events

CITY Events now sits under the CITY™ Non-Profit umbrella: screenings, workshops, showcases, wellness activations, and community media moments.

CITY Events under nonprofit

CITY Events is no longer treated as a separate top-level lane in this staged structure. It functions as the live activation and public-programming arm of CITY™ Non-Profit, with future domain-facing assets intended for city-non-profit.org.
